Man dies, woman injured following midnight assault in Antrim

Police are treating the man’s death as a murder.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are treating the death of a man (60s) in Co Antrim as murder.

The assault took place just after midnight in the Caddy Road area of Randalstown.

A woman, aged in her 50s, was also injured in the attack. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

It is believed that police are investigating whether a number of people were involved in the attack, as several vehicles were spotted at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Talbot said:

At this time investigations are at an early stage but I am treating this as murder.

He appealed to “to anyone who noticed any suspicious vehicles or activity in the Caddy Road area at around midnight” to the PSNI at Ballymena Police Station.
