Teenage girl allegedly sexually assaulted just yards from school

The victim is believed to be 14 years old.

GARDAÍ IN TALLAGHT are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl.

The victim, who is believed to be 14 years old, was allegedly attacked on Monday afternoon in the Ashgrove estate in Springfield.

The incident happened close to St Mark’s GAA club, a short walking distance from a local secondary school.

It is understood the victim was hospitalised for treatment following the assault.

Gardaí cordoned off the scene of the attack on Monday and have been making inquiries in the area.

Local Fianna Fáil councillor Charlie O’Connor said Ashgrove residents were “very concerned and upset” by the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone with information to go to the gardaí. They are treating this very seriously,” he said.
