Poll: Should long-term asylum seekers be allowed to work?

A report recommends new asylum seekers should be able to work if they have been waiting more than nine months for a decision.

A REPORT DUE to be published later today will recommend allowing new asylum seekers who have been waiting for a decision for longer than nine months to get jobs, RTÉ reports.

Currently, those living in direct provision accommodation are not permitted to work  and receive a weekly allowance of €19.10 per adult and €9.60 per child.
