Whips will not be imposed on Fine Gael and Labour members of banking inquiry

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore met earlier this afternoon.

PARTY WHIPS WILL not be imposed on Fine Gael and Labour senators and deputies sitting on the banking inquiry.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore met earlier this afternoon, a government spokesperson confirmed.

Both agreed that neither government party would impose whips on members sitting on the banking inquiry.

The decision comes in the wake of Independent TD Stephen Donnelly’s resignation from the inquiry.
