Gardaí said today that they undertook the searches as part of a metal theft day of action on 21 and 22 May 2014, which was coordinated by Europol and involved authorities in 20 European countries.
An Garda Síochána arrested 27 people and searched over 70 premises during the metal theft operation.
Gardaí attached to the Organised Crime Unit searched a number of premises in Wicklow, Dublin and Cavan and recovered over 1000 stolen beer kegs.
The 27 people were arrested for a variety of offences including burglary, theft and related matters over the two days. Meanwhile, a large number of other offences were also detected, including breaches of the Road Traffic Acts.
