Look like Joyce? Well, get some Gorgonzola sandwiches and head to Dun Laoghaire

Having a slice of Gorgonzola cheese as featured in James Joyce’s Ulysses on Dun Laoghaire’s East Pier.

THE LARGEST BUNCH of Joyce lookalikes will gather in Dún Laoghaire this Bloomsday, 16 June, to munch on Gorgonzola sandwiches and try and set a world record .

But not to worries ladies, you are welcome to dress as Molly Bloom if Leopold isn’t to your liking. Other prizes will be given out for best Baby Bloom, Little Leopold, Jolliest Joyce and Magnificent Molly costumes also.

Bloomsday is a time if year when all James Joyce fans re-Joyce (sorry!) all over the world and celebrate his literary masterpieces.

The clock goes back to June 16, 1904 the exact day depicted in the 700-page novel Ulysses.

Joyce writes about the adventures of Leopold Bloom, a Jewish advertising salesman, and young poet Stephen Dedalus as they wander the streets of Dublin.

Devoted fans mark the day by dressing up in period costume, eat a breakfast of the “inner organs of beasts and fowls”, swim at the Forty Foot in the south city, lunch on Burgundy and Gorgonzola cheese and buy lemon soap.
