No arrests as gardaí investigate discovery of body in Limerick housing estate

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for information following the discovery of a man’s body in Limerick city earlier today.

The remains have not yet been identified, and no arrests have been made.

Gardaí said the body was found in the back garden of a house at Briarfield, Castletroy, this morning. The occupants of the house are assisting officers with the investigation.

The remains were found while a missing persons report from 6 January was being investigated.

The scene has been sealed for a technical examination, and the state pathologist is due to carry out a preliminary examination of the body tomorrow morning.

Superintendent Derek Smart is appealing for anyone who was in Briarfield area since Wednesday 30 December, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact them at Henry Street Garda Station on 061-212400 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
