ARON ANDERSON WAS the subject of an article in the Telegraph newspaper last month.

The ten-year-old, dubbed Britain’s loneliest schoolboy, is the only pupil at Skerries Community School on the remote Scottish island of Out Skerries. It has a population of 70 people.

The article said he has resorted to befriending ducks as he is so lonely.

Until recently the school had a number of pupils, including Aron’s brothers and two other friends. However, all are older and have left for secondary school on Lerwick – a two-and-a-half hour journey away.

They return home at weekends and for holidays, depending on the weather.

A Reddit user was touched by the story and has set up a campaign for people from around the world to send Christmas cards to Aron.

BesottedScot said he has phoned Aron’s school so they are expecting the cards.

I really want him to get a big massive smile on his face, so please write a wee message in the card to show your support too!

Would you like to send Aron a card? BesottedScot has devised some guidelines, including:

  • If you live outside Scotland, please send a postcard so that he knows where you’ve messaged from;
  • If you want to include a gift, whether that be an actual present, a voucher or money feel free to do so, but please also note this is not expected or required.

Here is Aron’s address:
Aron Anderson,
c/o Skerries School,
United Kingdom,
ZE21 9AS.
