A PREGNANT AMERICAN woman who disappeared last week, just hours before her scheduled caesarean section, has been found alive and well – but whether or not her baby has survived remains unclear.

Carrie Bradshaw Crowther, 49, mysteriously disappeared from her home in Salisbury, North Carolina on 2 June just hours before her baby was due to be delivered.

Given Crowther’s age, her pregnancy was seen as ‘high risk’.

The search for the missing woman spanned multiple states, before she was finally located on Monday by state troopers who spotted her at a filling station in Boone, some 90 miles from her home, after she used her ATM card in a local convenience store.

In the aftermath of his sister being found, Crowther’s brother Drew Bradshaw told local tv station WSOCTV: ”I was very relieved.  It was a joy to find out Carrie was okay and alive and soon to be safe”.

Carrie is doing okay. She’s in the hospital still being evaluated.  We are unable to release a whole lot of information about that.

When questioned about Crowther’s unborn baby however, her brother would only reply that “we are not expecting any new addition to our family”.

Carrie is presently hospitalised and is receiving much needed medical care.
While it is unfortunate we no longer expect a new addition to our family and ask for your continued prayers.
We feel that releasing any more information should be in Carrie’s discretion after she has had the opportunity to heal.

Crowther has apparently been discharged from the Watauga County Hospital to which she was admitted after being found, but was then subsequently admitted to another, unnamed hospital.

Local police confirmed yesterday that there is no suspected criminal element to the case.
