GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have responded to a rise in the number of road fatalities in the capital by launching a new Casualty Reduction Plan.

This includes working the Railway Procurement Agency to install sensors on Luas line crossings at Queen Street and Blackhall Place to automatically detect when a car runs a red lights and what Chief Superintendent Aidan Reid described as “full use of both marked and unmarked robot safety camera vans”.

They have also published a list of the top 10 locations where drivers speed in Dublin, as well as the average speed over the limit cars are detected at. Although vigilance will be increased across the city, these areas will receive “targeted enforcement”.
