GROWING UP, DID you want to be a doctor or nurse? Were you an aspiring novelist or teacher? Or did you crave stardom?

According to a new survey, only one in 10 people in Ireland are working in the job they wanted as teenagers.

Last month’s study by The Open University found that some 90% of people asked never got their childhood dream job.

The majority of the 1,000 adults surveyed felt they weren’t sufficiently equipped to pursue the career they aspired to as children.

Nearly a quarter said they didn’t have the necessary qualifications to secure their dream job, while nearly 19% cited a lack of confidence.

We’re asking: Do you have your childhood dream job?

Poll Results:

No (5677)
Yes (2927)
I never had a dream job (1876)
