The mother of the shooting victim, Ciara Sheehan, earlier released a photo of her 21-year-old daughter in her hospital bed.
The family released the photo, showing Susan O’Mahony tending to her bedside, to highlight the impact of gun violence.
Ciara Sheehan was shot while visiting her boyfriend’s home in Hollywood in the north of the city on Sunday morning. A bullet hit her in the neck after it was fired into the house.
Her injuries are described as serious but she is in a stable condition in hospital.
The shooting is believed to be part of a dispute to which the young woman was not involved. It is understood she was not the intended victim.
Gardaí recovered a gun in an area of wasteland during searches of the Knocknaheeny and Holyhill areas yesterday.
A man (29) and a woman (22) were arrested on Sunday morning following the shooting.
Investigations are ongoing.
Speaking yesterday, the Lord Mayor Of Cork Chris O’Leary said: “First of all, enough is enough, let’s step back from things before they get worse and before someone loses a life.”
The councillor offered to act as a go-between for the parties to the feud.
“I think somebody needs to stand up and say enough is enough. Most people would know me from my community work in the area. Knocknaheeny is a area of the city I’ve worked in for about 30 years.”
