VIDEO: New condom campaign launched by HSE

THE HSE HAS launched  a new advertising campaign to encourage young people to use contraception.

The ads, using the tagline “Johnny’s Got You Covered”, are the latest incarnation of the organisation’s Think Contraception campaign.

They feature a bearded man in a yellow suit – who we can only assume is Johnny – strumming a ukelele.

Recent HSE research showed that 20 per cent of 18-25 year olds did not report consistently using contraception.

The adverts note the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases as well as crisis pregnancy.

“The common denominator that protects against both is condoms – and who better to remind young people of that than Johnny?” said Stephanie O’Keeffe, director of the HSE’s Crisis Pregnancy Programme.

The ads will air on TV shows popular with a young audience, starting tonight with The Inbetweeners. Here’s what viewers can look forward to:
