Commuting liveblog: Crashes close roads as traffic starts moving

Here’s all the traffic, transport and weather news you need this morning.

HELLO THERE, A very good morning to one and all and welcome to Thursday’s commuting liveblog.

Paul Hosford here, I’ll be with you until after 9am as another working day gets under way.

So stick with me for all the latest traffic, travel and weather information from across the country.

Morning folks, how are we all today?

Me? I’m grand, sure it’s almost the weekend.

We start with news from Laois and Cork, where roads are closed following a fatal and serious crash, respectively.

Coming in to town via Queen Street? Someone has parked in one lane, which isn’t helpful.

The weather today would almost make you believe it’s spring.

Met Éireann says:

Most areas holding fully dry but rather cloudy today – eastern counties will be brightest with some sunny spells. Later in the day the odd spot of light rain or drizzle will occur, with hill and coastal fog too, especially across Atlantic counties. Milder than recent times as winds back southwesterly. Highest temperatures of ten to 12 degrees celsius.

Ten to 12 degrees. Grab my suncream.

It’s only 7.20am, but traffic in Dublin is building.

Dolphin’s Barn, Inchicore and Gardiner Street are particularly heavy, while the north quays is heavy from the Custom House to the port.

In Cork, the Dunkettle Interchange is busy, because it always is.

Traffic is also heavy on St Patrick’s Street, Bachelor’s Quay and Lapp’s Quay.

In Limerick, it is busy on both Shannon Street and Sexton Street as well as Mulgrave Street both ways.

In Galway, it is busy around Claregalway and Bishop O’Donnell Road. The permanently busy Headford Road and Lough Atalia Road are starting to build.

Traffic is building in Ferrybank in Waterford, but it’s light elsewhere.

In Kilkenny, it’s busy at the Hebron Road roundabout.

See? I told you it was a nice morning out.

On public transport, no operators are reporting any delays out of the ordinary.

Which is nice.

A week from now it will be St Patrick’s Day. Dublin Bus will be running a Sunday service on the day and there is a host of bus diversions in place,

Here’s a full list of what’s happening.

If you’re looking to bring your car from east Waterford to Wexford, the Passage East ferry is out of service for a few days.

The Grand Canal is chronic all the way from Inchicore to Leeson Street.

The north quays are also very heavy.

There’s been a crash on College Street in Dublin city, but apparently it’s moving fine past it.

The usual suspects are pretty heavy today.

Here’s the M50 at Tallaght:

The N11:

And this little fella has made an appearance further up on the N11:

There’s been a crash near the M7, which is blocking access to the motorway.

This is a drive that would take around 10 minutes without traffic.

impatient

Dublin city is very heavy right now, with the north quays and High Street particularly bad.

Well, that’s it from me for this morning.

Wherever you’re headed today, get there safely. Have a great day, guys.

Bye Bye

(Now that song is in your head. Not sorry.)
