Commuting liveblog: Road closures in Tipperary after fatal crash

All the traffic, transport and weather news this morning.

GOOD MORNING AND welcome to Friday’s liveblog.

We’ll be with you until just after 9am this morning, bringing you the latest traffic, travel and weather updates from across the country.

Morning, folks.

Catherine Healy here on TheJournal.ie’s commuting liveblog, helping you get to where you need to go.

Not while driving, obviously.

First things first: the weather. Met Éireann says the day will be dry at first and then rainy.

The mist is also expected to clear this morning, at least.

The R689 has been closed between Urlingford and Gortnahoe following a crash.

Taking the 7.10am Waterford-Heuston trains? It has reduced capacity today.

Nothing unusual to report from Dublin so far. The north quays are quite busy from North Wall Quay to the Custom House.

Good news (kind of) if you were planning to get a Dundalk-Dublin train this morning:

The Port Tunnel northbound has been shut:

And it’s now fully reopened:

A 25-year-old man has been confirmed dead following the R689 collision at Urlingford last night.

The motorcyclist was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a sign, gardaí said. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kilkenny Hospital.

The road is currently closed between Urlingford and Gortnahoe to facilitate a garda examination.

Take note if you’re passing J10 on the M1 in Louth:

There are long delays on the N28 southbound in Cork from Shannonpark roundabout to Shanbally Cross due to a protest in the area, AA Roadwatch reports.

There’s been a breakdown inbound on the N7 Newlands Cross flyover, so expect some delays there.

Stuck on the bus, train or Luas? Catch up on this morning’s top stories in our 8 at 8.

The M50 is moving pretty well in both directions for once. Just look at these cars whizzing by at Ballymount:

Traffic has been blocked at Edge’s Corner on the North Strand:

Bad news if you’re taking the N28:

Meanwhile, on the M1:

That N7 breakdown has now been cleared:

There are delays now in both directions of the Feltrim Road in Swords following a collision near Kettle’s Lane, Live Drive reports.

Delays are also being reported on the M7 northbound after a crash at J9.

The M7 collision has now been moved off the road.

Another crash has been reported now, this time in Waterford:

Right, time to wrap up today’s liveblog. Thanks for sticking with us.

Hope you get through today and enjoy the weekend.
