Contact lens manufacturer creates 100 jobs in Limerick
VISTAKON IRELAND, which manufactures and markets contact lenses, is to create 100 new jobs in Limerick.
An additional 200 temporary construction jobs will be created as the company expands its manufacturing operations at its site in the National Technology Park in Plassey.
Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton and Minister for Finance Michael Noonan made the announcement about the €100 million expansion this morning. The 100 new jobs will be highly skilled positions aimed at graduates.
Vistakon Ireland was founded in 1996 in Limerick and designs and makes Acuvue soft disposable contact lenses. It is one of a number of Johnson & Johnson companies operating in Ireland, employing a total of 1,900 people.
Richard Bruton said that the announcement was great news for the mid-west and a major vote of confidence in manufacturing in Ireland.
The recruitment for the new positions is expected to be completed by mid-2013.
