Couple eat their wedding cake over 60 years (and there's still some left)

Their children aren’t impressed.

AN AMERICAN COUPLE who have been married for 60 years has a somewhat unusual anniversary tradition.

Ann and Ken Fredericks froze part of their wedding cake and each year eat a piece.

The couple told Florida Today they pour brandy over the fruitcake each year to moisten it.

Ann Fredericks said the couple’s children are “appalled”, but the cake still tastes good and has never made them sick.

“Our children are appalled that we would be eating something that’s 60 years old. But, believe me, it’s quite tasty, as long as it’s got enough brandy on it. And it’s never made us sick.”

The couple was married in Nyack, New York in 1955 and Ann’s grandmother made the cake a couple of months before the wedding so it would settle. A local bakery then covered it in frosting before the wedding.
