THE CRIMINAL COURTS of Justice on Dublin’s Parkgate Street was evacuated today – but Dublin Fire Brigade has since confirmed the operation was a drill.

The complex was cleared at around midday.

A solicitor who was in the courts told TheJournal.ie that an alarm had been sounded and everyone was told to leave.

Videos posted from outside the complex showed lawyers, court workers and others gathered outside as an alarm continued to sound.

The fire service later tweeted from its official account that it had been notified a drill would take place today.

A spokesperson for the Courts Service said it was a scheduled fire drill and that all relevant parties in the court had been notified in advance.
