Poll: Have you ever crossed the border to do shopping?

With the euro gaining strength against the pound, we’re asking you if you’ve ever shopped across the border.

AS STERLING RATES fluctuate, retailers fear that customers will go over the border to do their shopping.

When the UK currency was at its strongest, people may have travelled south of the border for shopping, but the current strength of the euro has businesses worried that Irish customers will travel north of the border.

Last year, Retail Ireland said that a devalued pound “raises the spectre of a potential return to cross-border shopping”.

With Brexit weakening the sterling against the euro, the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland said today that people travelling to shop in Northern Ireland would cost the economy millions of euro.

So today, we’re asking you: Have you ever crossed the border to do shopping?

Poll Results:

Yes (7977)
No (3427)
No interest/No opinion (284)
