The only problem was they were pronouncing it ‘amazey-balls’.

IN A HISTORIC day, the word ‘amazeballs’ has been read into the Dáil record, but the TD responsible unfortunately mangled the pronunciation.

Sinn Féin’s Aengus Ó Snodaigh was speaking on the Social Welfare and Pensions Bill which he said was not “amazey-balls” before describing it as “the new term in the southside”.

There was widespread confusion in the chamber as Fine Gael TD Olivia Mitchell appeared bewildered by what she termed as “the new craze”.

Her party colleague and the Dáil chair Bernard Durkan remarked: “The rest of us might like to understand what’s going on as well… this terminology is unknown to us.”
