Rail services getting back to normal after Storm Callum - but flights and ferries disrupted
Updated Oct 12th 2018, 10:47 AM
IRISH RAIL HAS confirmed that all services are back operating as normal this morning in the wake of severe disruption due to Storm Callum earlier.
For a time this morning, the DART system was only running between Bray and Malahide due to problems on the line past Howth Junction and at Greystones.
There was also disruption on the Dublin-Belfast line while the 6am Waterford to Dublin train was also delayed after it hit a tree outside Thomastown.
“As Storm Callum passes over Ireland, services across all routes are operating and are subject to some delays due to heavy leaf fall causing low rail adhesion and storm debris on the line,” Irish Rail said in its latest update.
Crews are continuing to clear all all affected areas.
All Bus Éireann services will go ahead as normal, except for the 350 to the Cliffs of Moher, which has been cancelled, and the 401 in Galway, which will operate from stop 6 in Eyre Square (east side).
Dublin Bus services have been operating mostly as normal today, although there were some diversions on the 11 route earlier.
The Luas is operating as normal on both lines.
And there have been a number of cancellations of departing flights at Dublin Airport this morning. Cork and Shannon have been running mostly as scheduled.
Irish Ferries cancelled two Dublin-Holyhead crossings today – the 2am service and the 8.05am. The sailing from Cherbourg in France to Dublin scheduled for this afternoon has been delayed until tomorrow.
