Derry: Two arrested over reports of attempted hijacking

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested by police in Northern Ireland following reports of an attempted hijacking.

The PSNI said that police in Derry investigating reports of an attempted hijacking in the Carnhill area of the city this morning have arrested two males.

Police also recovered a small crossbow following a search of a house in the area.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, criminal damage and assault on police.

A second man, aged 27, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, assault on police and resisting arrest.

They are both currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
