Want a neighbourhood where you'll instantly feel at home? 5 new developments to check out

From playgrounds to beach clean-ups, Glenveagh Homes is investing in communities.

A STRONG COMMUNITY spirit doesn’t happen without a lot of hard work.

Throughout 2019, Glenveagh Homes has been putting in effort to ensure that their new developments mesh well with existing communities, or thrive of their own accord.

From completing playgrounds and boardwalks to participating in beach clean-ups, Glenveagh has taken the lead in encouraging community spirit from Kildare to Greystones.

1. Barnhall Meadows, Leixlip, Co Kildare

Barnhall Meadows is made up of family-friendly three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes, ranging from 1,313 sq ft to 2,236 sq ft. Each offers new owners contemporary kitchens and bathrooms, spacious living space, and A3 energy ratings as standard, thanks to high levels of insulation and state-of-the-art heat pump systems.

The development is perfectly situated to offer a pleasant commute; the N4/M4 and M50 motorways are all within close proximity. Dublin City Centre is under 30 minutes away by car, and Dublin Bus also provides a regular service. Irish Rail also provides a daily service, with Louisa Bridge and Confey train stations close by.

What are some community highlights? The existing allotments and beehives on the site at Barnhall Meadows were preserved, and work is taking place to improve access and walkways to the Wonderful Barn, so local residents can better avail of the historical monument.

Visit Barnhall Meadows for more information or to register your interest.

2. Marina Village Greystones

Ideally located at Greystones Harbour, Marina Village strikes the balance of coastal living while still having easy access to the heart of the capital. Greystones village is just a short walk from the development, where there are several schools, restaurants and outdoor activities to enjoy, while the DART from Greystones train station can have you at Grand Canal Dock within 45 minutes. The nearby M50 and recently improved N11 make travelling to Dublin city centre and beyond a breeze.

What are some community highlights? Work is underway on a 14-acre park in Marina Village along the Bray to Greystones walk, and will be accessible to the public and include facilities for dog owners. Additionally, the boardwalk along the marina was completed this year, giving residents a place to stroll along the water. Glenveagh employees participated in a beach clean-up in Greystones this year as well.

3. Ledwill Park, Kilcock

Located in Braganstown, Kilcock, Co Kildare, the houses at Ledwill Park are beside the train station, within a 45-minute commute to Dublin Connolly and five minutes from the M4, which brings you to Dublin city in 40 minutes (off-peak). It’s also within five minutes walk of Kilcock village.

The homes contain shaker-style doors, modern skirting and architraves finished in white satin paint and a pull-down attic ladder. All windows and doors are two-toned uPVC double-glazed and there are French double doors to the back garden in each home.

What are some community highlights? Ledwill Park will have pedestrian links to the train station completed in 2020, and Glenveagh is working closely with Kilcock GAA, which neighbours the development.

4. Taylor Hill, Balbriggan

At Taylor Hill, you’ll be close to nature and to the Dublin coastline, but you’ll also be just a 40 minute commute from the city centre by car. You can be on the M1 in three minutes, or the M50 in 15. Regular bus and rail links run between Balbriggan and the centre of Dublin too. For everyday amenities, Balbriggan is an established community all of its own, with schools, shops, bars, sports clubs and – of course – coastal walking routes nearby.

Each unit has an open plan living room, downstairs WC and no end of storage. The kitchen area opens to the rear garden via French doors, perfect for entertaining during the warmer months, or gazing out at winter skies later in the year.

What are some community highlights? As part of the completed development in Taylor Hill, a playground will be created for local use, along with football pitches, a creche, and neighbourhood facilities.

Visit Taylor Hill for more information or to register your interest.

5. Cnoc Dubh, Ballyboughal

A brand new development of 57 houses located in the heart of Ballyboughal village, four-bed detached homes at Cnoc Dubh are on the market from €440,000. Each home at the development benefits from a multitude of high quality features and finishes, including an A-rating for energy efficiency.

Commuters are sure to appreciate the nearby M1, which allows the trip from Cnoc Dubh to the heart of the capital to be completed within 35 minutes. If you’d prefer to leave the car at home, public transport options link the village to larger surrounding towns and beyond. Jet setters can be at the airport within 20 minutes.

What’s one community highlight? As part of the completed development in Cnoc Dubh, a playground will be created for local use in 2020.
