Poll: Do we need an International Women's Day?

It’s the centenary of #IWD and Barack Obama has announced March 2011 as “Women’s History Month”: but do you think women need a special day dedicated to their issues at all?
Mar 8th 2011, 11:06 AM 1,377 0

TODAY IS THE centenary of International Women’s Day. Since 1911, this one day a year has been used by organisations, governments and women’s groups to highlight gender issue and “mark the economic, political and social achievements of women”.

Judging by the conversation on Twitter and on the airwaves this morning, not everyone is convinced there is a need for an International Women’s Day. (There is also an International Men’s Day on November 19).

What do you think?

Poll Results:

Yes, there should be an International Women's Day. (344)
No, there's no need for one. (186)
I really don't care whether there is or there isn't. (136)
