Donegal is the only constituency to vote No in the referendum

The final result was 51.9% No and 48.1% Yes.

THE FINAL RESULTS are in and Donegal is the only constituency to have returned a majority No vote in the Eighth Amentment referendum

Turnout in the county was 57% and the final result shows 51.9% of people voted No, while 48.1% voted Yes.

Nationally, with more than two million votes cast, the country voted by 66.4% to 33.6% to remove the amendment

There were early indications from tallies that the result would lean towards a No in Donegal.

Speaking to Ocean FM this afternoon, Minister of State Joe McHugh said: “It’s very interesting, there’s no natural urban-rural divide in the county… my own parish voted yes. You have no trend. It’s just really, really tight here.”
