DUBLIN AIRPORT HAS joined the campaign to rid the world of people who call St Patrick’s Day “Patty’s Day”.
In a searing Facebook update, the airport posted this powerful image calling on visitors – and, in fact, everybody else – to check themselves:
They’re trying to spread the word around the benighted peoples of North America, too. The update adds:
Please share this simple message with your friends and relations in the United States and Canada. Using the power of your network, hopefully we can banish the scourge of St Patty once and for all.
We stand squarely shoulder to shoulder with this effort. In the words of Marcus Campbell, manager of the always-important PaddyNotPatty.com:
Paddy is derived from the Irish, Pádraig, hence those mysterious, emerald double-Ds.Patty is the diminutive of Patricia, or a burger, and just not something you call a fella.
