Tankers in place as Dublin water disruption continues

RESIDENTS IN AN AREA of north Dublin are being advised to avoid drinking their tapwater until the results of bacterial testing have shown it is safe to do so.

Dublin City Council and the HSE issued the alert yesterday evening for properties located from the Howth Road to Castle Avenue, and from the Howth Road at Collins Avenue to Clontarf Road.

Water samples have so far shown no presence of e-coli or metals such as lead, according to the notice. However, DCC says that as a precaution, residents and businesses are advised not to use their water for drinking or cooking until further notice.

The results of the latest tests are expected this afternoon.

Three water tankers are providing the area affected by the alert with water today. One is stationed at Castle Park at Kincora Avenue and one on St Lawrence Road at the Howth Road. A third tanker is roving around the area and anyone who needs water can flag it down, according to a DCC spokesperson this morning.

Meanwhile, Fingal County Council has issued a statement to clarify that there are no issues with water contamination in Fingal and no reported water supply outages in the Fingal Area.
