Eircom says services are returning to normal today

EIRCOM HAS SAID the majority of its customers’ mobile and phone lines should be back up and running this morning.

Mobile and landline numbers for businesses across the country as well as ISDN lines were affected by yesterday’s disruption to services.

Standard fixed line numbers were not impacted. The company confirmed an incident in its core telephony network this morning impacted 5% of its daily call volume.

In a statment this morning, it said:

Services have remained stable overnight and early this morning following a number of steps taken by our network engineers.With business services returning to normal we will now turn our focus to establishing root cause and ensuring that this doesn’t happen again.

Last night, the company said the disruption had been caused by an incident on their core telephony network.

Since 10am yesterday morning, technicians worked to restore the service for impacted customers in Dublin and the southern half of the country.

It said it wished to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers.
