Biography

She was first elected to the Dáil in 1992 and has been a sitting TD since. Formerly a member of the Labour Party, she was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Primary Care in 2011, but resigned the position and left the Labour Party in 2012. She is one of the co-founders of the Social Democrats party.

Why should someone vote for you (in 140 characters or fewer)?

Better public services. Also, I hope I’ve shown I’m honest, effective and hardworking, and that I stick to my promises and principles.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

Improve community health services. Eg: extra speech therapists for kids, more home help services, services through community nurses.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

A new housing scheme for older people so they can switch to manageable accommodation where it suits their needs and frees up family homes.
