Biography

Stanton was first elected as a TD in 1997 and has retained his seat in every election since. He is Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration. He has held various spokesperson positions over the years in Fine Gael including social/family affairs and defence. Prior to his career in politics, he was a secondary school woodwork and construction teacher. He lives in Midleton.

Why should someone vote for you?

I have an awful lot of experience in the Dáil, I have a proven track record and I have done a lot of hard work and delivered results for my constituency.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

School places are a big issue, second-level places in particular. After that it would definitely be traffic congestion.

Q.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

I would like to see the publication of a National Youth Justice Bill I have been working on as part of the Youth Justice Strategy.
