Biography

First elected as an independent councillor in 2014, Whitmore retained her seat as a SocDems candidate in the 2019 local elections. She unsuccessfully contested the 2016 Seanad election. She is the Social Democrats spokesperson for children. She is the chair of the council's committee on climate and biodiversity. She previously spent time in Australia where she worked as a senior policy analyst. She has degrees in ecology and environmental law.

Why should someone vote for you?

I am results-focused and effective at working with communities to deliver the changes they want to see

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

Significant investment in fast, efficient and regular public transport that works for commuters and communities.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

Establish a Wicklow traffic taskforce, which would set an ambitious target for car reduction and develop implementation and funding plans to meet that target.
