Question Time

Q.

Why should someone vote for you?

I am putting my name forward to offer a real alternative to Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil who have not delivered for our constituency. Instead, they have stripped our communities of vital services, including respite services, mental health services, post offices and garda stations.

Q.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

Healthcare is a major issue in this constituency. While candidates have been tripping over each other to take credit for the long-promised new 50-bed unit at Portiuncula Hospital, unless the embargo on the recruitment of front-line staff is lifted, these beds will lie idle while the trolley crisis worsens.

Q.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

Establish an employment taskforce, including key stakeholders to explore ways in which jobs can be brought to counties west of the Shannon. This would mean a specific focus on job creation in our area rather than leaving it up to the IDA who rarely visit our constituency let alone create jobs.
