Cavan County Councillor Peter McVitty is contesting the general election in Cavan-Monaghan. The Ballyconnell man, who was first elected to the council in 1999, and was appointed as the body's chairperson in 2006/2007. His only other national election campaign was in 2007 when he unsuccessfully sought election to the Administrative Panel of Seanad Eireann.

    Spoke to you in Cavan today and you were all in favour of reversing the ban on Stag Hunting. I would not vote for you or your party on that single issue alone.
