Mary Fitzgibbon has worked as a nurse for 23 years. She also currently lectures in Nursing & Health Care Studies at the Institute of Technology, Tralee. She is contesting her first election as an Independent candidate in Kerry North-West Limerick.

Fitzgibbon is originally from Tralee and now lives with her husband Michael and four children in Ballymacelligott.
