Willie O’Dea

Date of Birth: 11/1952

If elected, this will be Willie O'Dea's nineth term representing the people of Limerick in the Dáil. The Kilteely man, who is a qualified barrister and an accountant, was first elected in February 1982 when he partnered Des O'Malley in Limerick East. O'Dea, who was appointed as Minister for Defence in 2004, resigned his post last year amid controversy regarding comments he had made about Sinn Féin's Maurice Quinlivan.

    Ah come on Willie.

    You have a good run at it. 30 years in the Dail & thirteen years as Minister of Junior minister.

    You need to man up & take responsibility for what you and your party, Fianna Fail have done to our country.

    In your time Limerick unemployment has gone from bad to worse while you clown around in the media.

    In the name of God, just go and let us to get on with the economic rebuilding.
