ENDA KENNY HAS ruled out running for a third term as Taoiseach.

Kenny told RTÉ News he has no intention of attempting to extend his term beyond the lifetime of the next government.

He made the comments on foot of remarks by government chief whip Paul Kehoe who told the Irish Examiner : “I believe Enda Kenny, if he is returned as Taoiseach after the next general election, will serve another five years and more.”

Speaking today in Mayo, Kenny said Kehoe had used ”a lot of poetic licence”.

“It would be very arrogant and presumptuous of any public representative to assume that they can be elected to anything, myself included, until the people vote,” Kenny stated.

He added that he still has plenty of work to get on with in the current government’s term.
