CYCLISTS IN LONDON have staged a vigil for a young woman who was killed while riding her bike in the Camberwell area of London.

The 32-year-old was hit by a lorry 12 days ago and is the fifth woman to die in a cycling accident in the city.

Hundreds of cyclists lay on the road tonight with their bikes in a staged ‘die-in’ vigil at 6.30pm for Esther Hartsilver.

The aim of the vigil was too highlight the dangers on the roads for cyclists.

The London Evening Standard reports that Esther’s sister, Emma, paid tribute to her sister stating : “Esther had the most amazing impact on everyone’s lives. I know she still does now. She’s having a right laugh looking down on us screaming and cheering.”

People attending tonight’s vigil posted on Twitter under #StopKillingCyclists. Cyclists called for better road and cycle plans to be introduced in the city.
