Every little helps: Tesco cuts 1.5 cent off litre of petrol

The cut was in response to a fall in global oil prices.

TESCO IRELAND HAS said it has cut an average of 1.5 cent off a litre of petrol at its 20 filling stations across the country.

The Irish Daily Mail reports that the retail giant was responding to the fall in global oil prices with a barrel of crude oil costing $108 yesterday, down $7 after the International Energy Agency said it would replace the 1.5 million barrels of oil produced daily in the troubled Arab state of Libya.

As industry experts said the fall would eventually mean a 5 cent reduction at the pumps, Tesco moved to cut prices by as much as 2 cent in Wexford and Wicklow and around 1 cent in Kerry and Dublin where prices were at 149.9 cent per litre.
