Ex-David Cameron aide to be arrested over NOTW phone hacking: report
FORMER NEWS of the World editor Andy Coulson is to be arrested tomorrow by British police investigating allegations the newspaper hacked a number of phones.
The Guardian reports that police have informed Coulson that he will be arrested tomorrow over suspicions he knew about or was directly involved in the alleged hacking. Coulson resigned as Prime Minister David Cameron’s director of communications at the start of this year over the hacking investigation.
The newspaper also reports that a former senior NOTW journalist is also expected to be arrested in the coming days in connection with the investigation.
News Corp’s James Murdoch announced the closure of the paper this afternoon. Murdoch said one final edition would be published this Sunday. The Irish edition of the paper employs 22 people full-time and it is not clear yet if these jobs will be transferred to other publications owned by the news group.
