POLICE IN BELFAST are appealing for information after a taxi-hijacking in the Falls Road area early this morning.

The driver was travelling along the road with three male passengers, when the man in the front passenger seat forced him to stop and assaulted him.

He was then forced out of the taxi, and two of the men drove off in it.

The third man ran off on foot.

The car – a purple Skoda – was recovered shortly afterwards in the Durham Street area of the city.

According to police, the driver wasn’t injured in the incident, but was left badly shaken.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact in Woodbourne Police Station on the non-emergency number ’101′.
