A FAMILY OF four was threatened with a screwdriver in their home during a burglary in Antrim last night.

Police are investigating after four masked men entered the house in Lisburn at around 9.30pm last night and locked the family – parents aged in their 50s, a daughter in her 20s and a teenage son – in a room, while they ransacked the house.

The men made off with a number of items, including a sum of money and some jewellery.

The woman in her 50s required medical treatment for shock after the incident.

The PSNI believe there is a link between this burglary and an aggravated burglary in another area of Lisburn several hours later.

A man in his 70s awake at around 1am to find two men in his bedroom, both armed with a suspected gun.

The man was tied up and locked in a room. The PSNI say the two men are believed to have made off without taking anything from the house.

The man was not injured, but was left very shaken by the incident, police said.

The PSNI has called on anyone with information about the incidents to contact them.
