Father airlifted to hospital with serious injuries as 11-year-old son also hurt in Offaly farming incident

A FATHER AND SON were taken to hospital today, after a farming incident in Co Offaly.

Gardaí were called to the scene this afternoon, after the alarm was raised.

The man – aged 47 – was seriously injured after he and an 11-year-old – believed to be his son – fell from a teleporter at their farm in Congort, Shinrone.

The man was first airlifted to Tallaght Hospital.

He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The 11-year-old was taken to Tullamore Hospital, where his injuries are not described as life threatening.

The incident occurred at around 3.45pm this afternoon.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified, and its inspectors will attend the scene tomorrow morning.
