THE BODY OF a man has been found at a fire which broke out in Louth last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday evening at Finlay’s coffin makers on Tierney Street in Ardee.

Photographs from the scene showed flames and black smoke coming from the buildings.

The victim, a 30-year-old man who is from outside of Ireland, is believed to have worked at the premises.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and a post mortem is due to be carried out this morning.

Gardaí said the fire appears to have been started accidentally. Investigations are continuing and the scene has been preserved  for a technical examination by experts this morning.
