Father of three dies at nightclub in Antrim

A man was arrested this morning after Colin McLeister, 48, was pronounced dead at the town’s Playhouse venue.

POLICE IN THE North have named a father-of-three who died at a nightclub in Portrush, Co Antrim in the early hours of this morning.

Colin McLeister, 48, from Coleraine was pronounced dead at the Playhouse venue on the town’s Main Street. The incident happened around 1am this morning.

The PSNI serious crime branch is investigating the death, and has appealed for witnesses. Officers asked in particular for anyone who witnessed an altercation at the club, or who saw Colin McLeister on the first floor of the venue before he went downstairs at around 12.50am.

A 34-year-old man was arrested this morning in connection with the death. However, the PSNI stressed that the investigation is still at an early stage.
