Female pedestrian in her 80s dies after being struck by car in Co Carlow

The incident happened at Myshall village, Co. Carlow.

A FEMALE PEDESTRIAN in her 80s has died after she was struck by a car in Co Carlow this evening.

The incident happened at Myshall village, Co. Carlow, shortly before 5.30pm.

The female pedestrian, in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The coroner has been notified and the woman’s body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

No other injuries were reported.

The scene is being held pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm are asked to make this footage available.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
