FIREFIGHTERS IN DUBLIN had to deal with large scale blazes at opposite ends of the county yesterday – at two derelict buildings in Shankill and Rush.

Units from Skerries, Balbriggan and Swords were sent to deal with a fire at large house in the north Dublin town of Rush.

On the southside, units from Dun Laoghaire, Donnybrook and Nutgrove were called out to respond to a fire at a large house in the suburb of Shankill.

Both were brought under control last night.

There are no reports of injuries from either fire. Gardaí said both buildings were derelict.
