A SEARCH FOR a missing fisherman has been stood down after a trawler sank off the coast of Skerries, Dublin earlier today.
Local RNLI lifeboat crews were tasked to the scene after the vessel went down about 100m off Skerries harbour this afternoon.
Howth and Skerries lifeboats as well as the naval vessel LÉ Orla went to the scene and several local fishing boats assisted in the search.
“At the moment there is one man missing and one person has been rescued,” a spokesperson for Howth RNLI told TheJournal.ie. It is understood that the man is in his 20s.
It is understood the boat was a local fishing vessel.
The search will resume at 6am.
