Footfall increases slightly, but shoppers not spending more

Latest footfall figures show a marginal increase in visits to Irish businesses as people sought shelter from bad August weather in shopping centres.

FOOTFALL fell by 1.7% for 2010, compared to figures from 2009. Consumer visits to high streets and shopping centres in Ireland appeared to level off in June, with a decrease of only 0.04% recorded compared to 2009. From February to June there have been positive footfall increases compared to 2009.
