auction stations

Five former garda stations were sold today... for less than €600,000 (in total)

All buildings come complete with state-of-the art recording equipment. (Not really, obviously… If that were the case we would have put it in the headline).

THE STATE’S FIRST ever auction of garda stations took place today. Five stations changed hands in the sale, held at Ganly Walter’s offices in Dublin.

According to auctioneer Robert Ganly:

There was huge interest in the properties, with over 75 people attending the auction and nearly 300 enquiries of which 15 per cent were UK enquiries and the rest were Irish.

We expect that nearly all of the Garda Stations will be converted back to houses so it was a great opportunity for families seeking quality properties which had been well maintained in the majority to acquire a property in a good location.

Here’s what they each reached:

Additionally, two more stations sold after the auction — Newtown Cashel in Tipperary went for price close to the guide of €55,000, the auctioneers say. No final price is given for the former station in Cloone, Co Leitrim. Negotiations are still under way regarding a station in Ardagh, Co Longford (guide €125,000).
