FORMER TRANSPORT MINISTER Noel Dempsey is using LinkedIn to find new jobs, describing himself as an “experienced policy maker” on the business-related social networking site.

The Sunday Times reports (subscription) that the former Fianna Fáil TD’s first job since leaving government is a public contract advising 10 local authorities in Ireland and the North about communications.

In the first paid work he has undertaken since resigning as a minister, Dempsey is working for the Dublin-based PR firm David Curtin & Co developing a communications strategy for the East Border Region to raise awareness of bio-diversity. The former Minister for Environment denied there was a conflict of interest in advising local authorities on environmental matters given he was at the Department of Environment some nine years ago.

On his LinkedIn profile, Dempsey describes himself as an “experienced policy maker” who is “interested in utilising my skills, expertise and knowledge in a business capacity” citing his responsibility for major policies in environment, including waste, education, energy, local government and transport.

The former Fianna Fáil TD told the Sunday Times he had not got any offers of work through the website but there had been inquiries about his availability.
